Q: Do I need the MCP connector to use the booking widget?

No, they are independent. The widget is the front end that lets clients book on your website, and it works on its own. The MCP connector is a separate, optional layer that lets an AI client like Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT manage your SimplyBook.me account for you. You can use the widget alone, the MCP alone, or both together.

Q: Does the SimplyBook.me MCP connector work with Cursor and Claude Code?

Yes. It is a standard MCP (Model Context Protocol) connector, so it works with any client that supports custom MCP connectors, including Claude, Cursor, Claude Code, custom GPTs and the MCP testing tools. The setup is the same everywhere: paste the connector URL, sign in to SimplyBook.me, and allow access.

Q: Which Claude plan do I need for the MCP connector?

You need a Claude plan that supports custom connectors, which currently means a paid plan, and it may not be available on every team plan. Check current availability on your Claude account. The booking widget itself has no such requirement. On the SimplyBook.me side, the MCP connector is a custom feature you switch on in your account.

Q: Do I need to know how to code to set this up?

Barely. Adding the widget is pasting one script snippet into your site, and connecting the MCP is pasting a connector URL into your AI client and signing in. There are no API keys, SDKs or config files. If you are building with an AI assistant like Claude or Cursor, you can ask it to place the snippet in the right file for you.

Q: Is my booking data used to train an AI model?

The MCP connector only exposes your booking tools to the client you connect. What happens to the conversation after that is governed by your AI client's own data policy, so check your Claude, Cursor or Claude Code settings. SimplyBook.me does not send your data to a model for training.

Q: Can an AI assistant change or delete something in my account by accident?

It is scoped to your user role and confirms irreversible actions before running them, so it cannot quietly do more than your own login can. If you ever want it gone, turn off the MCP feature in your admin panel and access ends immediately, with no effect on your data.

Q: Can I add SimplyBook.me booking to a Squarespace or Webflow site?

Yes. Any site builder or CMS that lets you paste an HTML or embed block will run the widget, including Squarespace, Webflow, Shopify and Joomla. On WordPress you can paste the same snippet or install the SimplyBook.me booking plugin instead. If a platform blocks custom scripts on your plan, you can link out to your branded SimplyBook.me booking page rather than embedding it.

So your AI does the booking setup with you: creating services, setting hours, wiring up reminders and payments, and it keeps managing it once your site is live. No SDK, no API keys, no glue code. Paste one connector URL and sign in.

No build step. You need a SimplyBook.me account with rights to manage features, and an MCP client: Claude on a plan that supports custom connectors, Cursor, Claude Code, or any MCP tool. The screenshots below are from Claude. The steps are the same in every MCP client, only the menu names differ.

Enable the MCP feature

In your SimplyBook.me admin panel, open Custom Features, locate the feature named MCP and switch it on. Open its settings and the Admin AI Assistant section appears. That is the one this guide uses.
Grab your connector URL

In the Admin AI Assistant section, copy the read-only connector URL. It is server-specific, so always grab the exact one shown in your panel rather than typing it from memory.
Add it to your client

In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector. Give it a name and paste the URL. Same idea in Cursor or any MCP client: drop in the connector URL.
Authorise the connection

Sign in with your SimplyBook.me login, review the access screen, and click Allow access. Your client then shows the connector as connected.
Start talking

Type what you want done, for example "what's on the schedule tomorrow?" Your assistant decides which tools to call and confirms anything destructive first.

Tip: teach your AI client. The Admin AI Assistant section has a Download instructions button. Drop that file into Claude as a Project (or a Skill, or into Cursor's rules) so it knows your setup and nails calls on the first try.

Your assistant can only do what your own user account is allowed to do. If your role can't delete bookings in the admin panel, it can't delete them through the connector either.

Scoped, revocable, and yours

The connector is a permission-limited key, not a backdoor. Turning it off never deletes anything: your bookings, clients and settings are untouched.

Scoped to your role

The connector inherits the permissions of the user account that approved it. It can never do more than that account is allowed to do in the admin panel.

You approve the connection

Nothing connects without you signing in and clicking Allow. Auth happens on the sign-in screen, so your password is never shared with the AI client.

Revoke it instantly

Disconnect it in your client, change your password, or turn off the MCP feature. Any one of these kills access at once, and none of them touch your data.
